| Atlanta's
homeless population on an average night is estimated at
11,000 by Research Atlanta. Families are the fastest growing
segment of the homeless population, primarily comprised
of single mothers with children. Most of these individuals
never dreamed that they would be homeless. Poverty, lack
of affordable housing, eroding job opportunities, mental
illness, domestic violence, chemical dependency, desertion
or death of a parent or spouse and catastrophic illness
all are causes of homelessness.
Many of these people simply need a chance - a helping hand
to regain lives of self-sufficiency. Om2Om's
SEVA program offers relief to those who are affected by
this growing Atlanta problem. We have operated this SEVA
program exclusively with individual donations from our community.
We are now excited to build on this solid foundation by
asking for your support so that we may increase the number
of people that we serve.
What
SEVA is:
A program that provides emergency assistance and immediate
practical support including food, clothing, financial assistance
and case management to Atlanta's homeless, impoverished
and those in need.
Who
SEVA serves:
A community of people in and around downtown Atlanta who
are struggling with mental health issues, drug addictions,
poverty and homelessness. SEVA also supports clients such
as refugees and relocated immigrants that are referred by
other non-profit agencies.
How
does SEVA benefit:
The recipients of this care are at a point in their lives
where support from and contact with other people may be
just the helping hand that is needed. This assistance is
given without judgment and honors the divinity of all humanity.
SEVA has operated for over 2 years exclusively with volunteers
and all donations go directly to those in need.
Currently
we are serving over 250 individuals each month. Through
the generous support of organizations like yours, our loving
volunteers can expand our practical support and touch more
individuals in a unique and powerful way. We appreciate
any and all support that you can provide.
If
you would like additional information on this program or
would like to be added to a list specifically to inform
you on SEVA details, please email vedam@om2om.org
